Comments: this model did not appear in any known Ibanez marketing materials. We believe this model to be the predecessor of the DT-650, however, we have no evidence to support this theory. Visually, the two basses are extremely similar to include the same hardware configuration. The DT-700 was released three years prior to the DT-650 and the earliest known manufacturing date we have been able to obtain for the DT-700 is mid-1981. The DT-700 belongs to the Destroyer II line whereas the DT-650 belongs to the X-Series line. The DT-650 shows some refinement over the DT-700 with the addition of body binding.
Footnotes:
[1] the Serial Number Format for this model is myypppp where:

m = month of manufacture (e.g.: A = Jan, B = Feb, ... , K = Nov, L = Dec)
yy = last two digits of the year of manufacture (e.g.: 82 = 1982)
pppp = the sequential production number for this individual guitar out of all Ibanez electric guitars manufactured during the specified month/year at a given factory

Note: pppp is not the total number of guitars manufactured of this model.
[2] from the invoice shown below, we know the DT-700 was available to the Western market but since this model did not appear in any known marketing materials, we do not have any means to determine to which other market(s) the DT-700 was targeted. Today, used DT-700s are available in both the Eastern and Western markets.
